It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Finals are done as of 12 hours from now and my work load will ease up a little. I must say I am truly thankful for everything I have from my home, family, religion and all the other many blessings God has given me. From the looks of things, this will be my best semester yet despite my heavy work load which is really good. I've also grown as a photographer thanks to my awesome photo professor. Good news too...Im gettin a NEW CANON REBEL from my grandparents with 2 telophoto lens'!!! Just expanding my horizons. Here are some of my latest photos.

Well, haven't been doing too much in the way of photography lately with the work schedule picking back up agin as well as the school work getting a bit heavier, but I was able to make it back Downtown for my photo class and got some more blogworthy shots. The theme for this assignment was Urban Landscapes, and at first, I was kinda shy as to what to take, but opened the shutter up and let it rip. I really didn't think I got many good shots until i got home and did some minor editing, but I found out that a lot of them were actually pretty good, and my professor was quite impressed saying, "you have a really good eye for composition"! Anyways, they say a picture's worth a 1000 words so Im just gonna shut it now.hah Here ya go!

Well, as the year seems to continue to fly by faster and faster, I have actually had some free time from work to get some more photo opportunities! With midterms going on at school the past few weeks, it has been nice not having to work 30 hrs and having days off to relax and do what I love to do. My past 2 photo assignment required me to take night/low light photos and then portraitures this week, so I hit the road last week and visited downtown SD for the night and got some photos of the bay. Then this week, thanks to my little brother Cody, I had him model for my portraitures. For as long as I've been taking photo's I've always tried to kkeep people OUT of my pictures, so this was definately a change for me. As always, I am gonna go out and work with what I got, and I actually think some of the photos came out pretty good for me having no real "portraiture" experience". Well, just see for yourself!

I was glad to find out that i was given the weekend off from work, so the first thing that pops into my mind, other than just sleeping a bunch, was to go out and get some photos, so thats what I did earlier today. I had seen a special on TV about the Quail Botanical Garden in Encanitas and how it had a wide variety of plants, and I recently had an urge to visit, so low and behold, I had some free time and decided to pay the ,NOW, San Diego Botanical Garden a visit. It costs $14 with parking & enterance and in my view is pretty woth it giving all they have. So, I spent a few hours walking the many paths...and off the paths(broke a rule or 2.hah) and ended up getting some nice photos. My favorites are from the waterfall they had through the tropical gardens. anyways, I'll let my pictures do the rest of the talking...ENJOY!!!

Life has been quite busy lately between work and school, but when given time, I've been out shootin more photos. Im gonna be trying to enter some photo's in contests including the 2nd annual Vista contest in which I won youth Best of Show last year. My goal is to save up enough to invest in a new camera to further my possibilities. Donations will also be accepted.hah School is going well and I just hit my One year mark at Kohl's this month.TIME FLIES. Anyways here are some of my blogworthy photos I've taken over the last few weeks.

Hi Everyone! Its been a few weeks since I last checked in. Just been super busy with work and school. Im at Palomar, currently in my 3rd semester there, taking ECON, Mass Comm, Speech, History, and my Favorite, Photo 50!!! Its goin well, so far, but like I said, just super busy. They are definatley keeping me busy at work too with a steady 25-30hrs a week lately on top of full-time school. I've been out shootin some photos on my spare time and have recently got a lot of goos ones that i like, so hope you enjoy them.

Well, my blog kinda got ignored for quite some tiem, but ill try and get back up to date on everything im doin...which recnetly isn't much other than work, the beach, and mayeb a little photography too!!! I recently went to visit the Academy of Art in San Francisco, where, if you heaven't heard, I was accepted to for the fall 2010 semester! I am very excited to be able to pursue my goals of photography and art and the school has everything i could imagine and more...of course it has a hefty prcie tag, but its really not that much after everything thats offered. i figured i can post a few shots from the little weeknd trip, so here ya go. Its mainly B&w due to the weather.

So, I've been very busy lately between work and school. Almost done with the first semester though and it went pretty smooth. Work is going well and hopefully I can stay on after the Holidays. I've been a little lazy when it comes to anything else right now but I have taken a few more photos that are blog worthy so here ya go!

Finally got a Job!!!

Well, after countless months of searching for a job, one finally opened up at Kohl's, a great department store. I'm starting at $8 an hour, but get sweet discounts, so I'm pretty happy. I'm just blessed and very thankful that this job opened up, because times are tough right now and a lot of people are just barely getting by. Now it's only a matter of time before I can finally get a car:). As for school at Paolmar College, it's goin alright. Spanish is my biggest challenge, but Im slowly getting better. My other classes. Power Reading, Geology, and Geography are running a lot smoother. I just registerd to vote last week and am looking forward to voting this November.
Anyway, this is whats been going on recently and I'll try to update more often, but I was just busy recently.

Graduation Trip to Washington D.C

My grandparents have a tradition that when someone graduates from high school, they get to go on a trip. My sister went to Hawaii, my brother went to San Francisco, and I choose Washington DC, our nations Capitol. I find history interesting and DC definitely has its share of that. We left on July 26th and spent a week there before returning on August 2nd. As you know, the time difference between here and there is 3 hours so by the time we arrived the first day was shot. We did have a nice sunset on the plane as you can see. The next morning we got up early and headed to the Metro, the underground transit for the city, which we took from our hotel in Crystal City, to the Downtown DC itself. We began our day viewing the art Freer Art Gallery which contained hundreds of ancient art from all around the world. Then, we continued walking down the "mall" and visited the amazing Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. This museum contained the Wright Brothers plane many missiles from Soviet Russia and the U.S, ans well as many other planes such as the Spirit of St. Louis and other space artifacts. We spent a good amount of time there due to a thunderstorm that rolled in dumping a ton of rain. After a quick stop for lunch we headed across the street to the Museum of Natural History which is home to the world famous "Hope Diamond", as well as many other crystals and precious gems. After spending an hour there, we headed back to the hotel for the day and relaxed. On Tuesday, we decided to take the Arlington Cemetery tour and visit some of the monuments in the area. The tour took us around the cemetery visiting Kennedy's grave site, the house of Uylesses S. Grant, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. We also got to view the changing of the guard ceremony at the tomb. After the cemetery tour, we then went to one of the most recognized monuments in DC, the Lincoln Memorial. It's only fitting that Lincoln, who was a big man and did so much for our country, would have one of the biggest monuments. As you walk up the stairs and see Lincoln sitting in the chair, you get an amazing feeling. On either side wall from Lincoln sit his Four Scores speech and his Second Inaugural Address engraved into the stone walls. After the Lincoln Monument, we kept walking and viewed the Vietnam War Memorial, a very emotional site. There are thousands upon thousands of names on this wall from all the soldiers who were killed in the war. It's actually somewhat overwhelming to stand there and see all the names. We then kept walking along the reflecting pool and stopped by the World War II Monument, which sits on the opposite side of the reflecting pool from the Lincoln Memorial and in the shadows of the Washington Monument. This monument is fairly new and consists of a large fountain in the middle, surrounded by the pillars with the names of all the states and famous quotes from the Presidents about the war. After, we hopped back on the tour bus and took a loop around the city and got some great pictures of the Washington Monument, and the surrounding buildings. We also walked to the White House for a quick photo before returning to the bus and heading back to the hotel. The next day we had a Capitol Building Tour planned in the afternoon, so we walked around the city for a while and visited the Library of Congress. It's not a typical "library" with books, although it has some. It contains some of the original drafts from the Declaration of Independence, Constitutions, and Bill of rights, as well as the Gutenberg Bible. The inside of the building had a marvelous painting on the roof and beautiful tile work and marble pillars every where you looked. After the Library visit we headed down to the Congress office buildings and ate lunch at the cafeteria. If you didn't know, I am related to a Congressman by the name of Howard "Buck" McKeon, who serves in California. We knew he was still in town so we had the privilege of going into his office and meeting him. He was a big help in getting us the tours for the Capitol and the White House. After a few minutes of mingling, it was time for the capitol tour, which i was very excited for. The building is just amazing from the large dome to all the fine details and statues inside. We walked by Nanci Pelosi's office( House Speaker) and also got to view the Gallery, which is where the Senate does business. Although there were not too many people present at the time, they were still in the process of trying to pass a bill. The dome of the Capitol Building is just amazing, but wasn't how we see it today. The current dome atop the Capitol Building was constructed in 1861 out of cast-iron. Underneath the dome sits the Rotunda, and one of the neatest painting called "The Apotheosis of Washington" by Constantino Brumidi. The Rotunda is usually home to funerals of Presidents and other well know figures in America. The final day in Washington DC we visited the National Archives Building, home to all the official and original American Documents and the Magna Carta. It was very cool to have just a pane of glass between me and the founding documents of our country. Of course, the highlight of the day was definitely the White House Tour. it is VERY hard to get tickets and thanks to Congressmen McKeon we had the privilege to do it. the White House is spectacular from its landscaping outside to the paintings, architecture and everything else inside. The tour took us through the East Room, the largest in the White House, which serves for receptions, conferences and other special events. Then, we walked through the Green Room, Blue Room, where the President usually meets his guests, and the Red Room before the last room, the State Dining Room. The tour was short but very sweet. After the tour we left the city and headed out to Mount Vernon, George Washington's house. we took the tour of his house and the surrounding area. The house sits in the Potomac River in Virginia surrounded by a sea of trees. It was interesting to see how George Washington lived. The house is pretty large even to today's standards and the amount of land its on is huge. The house sits on acres of farm land and has a great view of the surrounding hills and the river. After the tour, we went to our hotel in Virginia, where we stayed 2 nights. The final day of the trip, we traveled to the new and much larger Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, which was built to house larger planes and even a space shuttle. The museum is huge. It is built of a full sized hangar and additional buildings around it. Inside it there are planes from World War II, the Concord Jet, the Enola Gay, which dropped the atomic Bomb and hundreds of other aircraft. There are planes hanging from the roof, propped up on the ground and almost anywhere they could fit one. After viewing the planes, we went up in th mock control tower. It was quite the experience. The museum sits a little over 100 yards from the runway at Washington Dulles Inernational Airport, so when the planes come in, you are almost level with them. It is very interesting, and kind of scary when the big Airbus planes flew in. You also got a great view of the surrounding scenery which was mostly trees and the airport. It was a great way to end the trip. The next morning it was time to go home. It was a great trip and a lot of fun. The flight back went by a lot quicker and we also got a great view of the Grand Canyon as we flew over. The flight was very smooth which is always good. Just one recommendation...If you want to go to anywhere in on the east coast, go when its cooler.

Trip to San Francisco with Family

As a family we took a road trip up the coast this summer. We left Saturday July 12 in the morning and traveled the first leg of the trip to San Simeon. We stopped at a few places along the way for a stretch and to sightsee including Mission's Santa Barbara and Santa Ynes. We also stopped in the Danish town of Solvang for a few hours. To end the 1st day, we stopped at Morro Bay, home of the large rock in the water. We stayed in San Simeon for the night, a very small town on the coast just south of Big Sur and Monterey. The next morning we visited Hearst Castle, a spectacular mansion built on the mountains overlooking the coast. The house was built by William Randolph Hearst during the great depression. The driveway alone was a five mile road and the size doesn't stop there. The land contains three guest houses each over3000sq. ft. and the main house "Casa Grande" which is nearly 40,000sq. ft. The house also featured the first heated pool and a marvelous, gold tiled indoor pool. After the tour we began the rest of the drive to San Francisco. By the time we got there it was after noon so we had some lunch and went to Pier 39 for a short time before returning to our hotel for the night. For the next three days we did a wide variety of activities using our San Francisco GO CARDS, a very good investment. We took two bay cruises, one under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz, and then a cruise under the Bay Bridge and around Angel Island. We also took a motorized cable car tour of the city which was very interesting. We also went to a few of the many museums around the wharf. They include the Wax Museum and The Aquarium by the Bay. The aquarium had many hands on exhibits including stingrays, sharks, starfish and other sea creature. It also had a walk through tunnel where fish of all sizes would swim over, and around you. We also traveled north to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and spent a few hours there before returning and experiencing one of the best view of the Golden Gate from atop Hawk Hill on the north side of the bridge. I did research to find the best views of the bridge and it didn't disappoint. After the breath taking views of the bridge, we drove across it and went to one of the most peaceful places in the city, the Japanese Tea Gardens. The gardens are full of a wide variety of plants and an awesome arching footbridge. The next day we took a tour of the San Francisco Giants stadium, AT&T park. we were able to step into the visitor's dugout, on the field and in the visitor's locker room. We got to explore much of the city and had a great time at the Painted Ladies, Chinatown, and other places as well. On the way home we stopped in Valencia for a trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor, which is usually fun except it happened to be extremely crowded and a little on the warm side. Overall, the trip was great. The weather was pretty fair but still on the cold side despite it being summer. If you want to see more of my photos from the trip, check out my San Francisco Video.
